Bristol born artist and now established Castletownbere resident John Ogden, officially launched his new website earlier this month, and hopes that this will be the stepping stone to fulfilling his dream of having a working open studio and gallery based in the town itself, and thereby increasing the already rising artistic appeal of this beautiful part of the Beara Pennisula.
John is no ordinary figurative artist and has a rather unique approach to how he works and paints, this unusual style has led to an increasing number of private clients.
This in turn has made him take the decision to open up his world to the public.
John makes contact with many women from all walks of life. Some are starting out in their world, others have experienced life. Some have taken hard knocks in their lives and some have yet to bounce back. Time goes on, and many have forgotten what its like to be seen as truly sensual beings, some have lost confidence and self belief.
John attempts to break down personal barriers and works closely with every lady, ensuring that the painting becomes a personal reflection of them and not just their familiar image as seen by the world. Behind the image there is a new excitement in their world. An enhancement of self worth.

An added feature of the new website is a rather unique blog which is being written by John's wife, Katrina.
Katrina is a graduate of Religious Studies, History and Theology and a practising Pagan with an interest in Irish local history and folklore.
More than a general information guide or travelog, Katrina's often rather sideways looks on living alongside John and his working studio, their controversial lives and their interaction with the locality in general, give a witty and highly personal insight into the Castletownbere region.
A number of original paintings and limited edition prints are available and private commissions are always welcome.
Currently John is working from his home studio just outside Castletownbere but plans are already in place to open up a new working studio in town.
